- 5 Omaha Steaks PureGround® Burgers, cooked your preferred way
- Special Sauce
- 5 slices American cheese
- Charred tomato
- Red onion
- Green leaf lettuce
- 4 slices Omaha Steaks Applewood Smoked Steak-Cut Bacon (cooked)
- Omaha Steaks Brioche Hamburger Bun
Prep Your Ingredients
Start out by whipping up your special sauce:
Special Sauce Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon capers, finely minced
- 1 medium pepperoncini, seeds removed, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon caper juice
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Mix the ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk until they’re well-incorporated.
Next, slice your red onion. For even more flavor, sauté it in a pan with butter or oil over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes or until tender.
For mouthwatering charred tomatoes, slice your tomatoes thick, lightly drizzle them with olive oil, and season them with a little salt and pepper. Grill your tomatoes in a hot cast-iron pan or directly on your grill, preheated to medium-high heat. When they start to sizzle (about 1 minute), flip them over until both sides are lightly charred.
To cook your bacon, pan-fry over medium heat for about 10-12 minutes or until desired doneness is reached. Or, preheat your oven to 350°F and cook for about 25-30 minutes or until desired doneness is reached, flipping once after 15 minutes of cooking.
Now You’re Cooking!
Once the stage is set and your ingredients are prepped, you’re ready for the main attraction: the burgers! Whether you grill, pan-fry, or smash on a griddle, there’s no wrong way to enjoy your favorite Omaha Steaks burger. For the most mouthwatering experience, use our incredible PureGround® burgers, made from single cuts of real, aged Omaha Steaks.
Pat your thawed burgers dry with a paper towel, then lightly oil and season both sides of the burger. We recommend seasoning your burger with Omaha Steaks Seasoning. It’s the perfect blend of garlic, onion, and savory spices. You can also use a blend of salt and pepper for that classic homemade taste.
The USDA recommends that ground beef be cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F. This will give you a well-done burger with no pink in the center. For medium-rare doneness, cook your burgers to an internal temperature of 135°F. Cooking times will depend on your preferred method of cooking.
Grill: 5-6 minutes per side on medium-high heat or until you reach desired doneness
Pan-Fry: 6-8 minutes per side in a hot skillet or until you reach desired doneness
Try to avoid flipping your burgers more than once. If you flip too soon, your burgers may stick to the surface and break apart. And too much flipping will dry out the meat – nobody likes a dry, tough burger! Remember: your burgers will continue to cook for a few minutes after you remove them from direct heat so remove them when they’re about 5°F below your desired doneness.
And don’t forget to add the cheese! When your burgers have about 30 seconds to 1 minute left, add a slice of that mild, delicious American cheese to each patty for that ooey, gooey perfection.
Construct the Colossus
Now you’re ready to bring it all together. A steady hand is a must! And you may want to use a skewer or two to help keep it upright.
- First, add about 1 tablespoon of that special sauce to the bottom bun, then your first cheesy, grilled burger patty. Add some special sauce to the top, along with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.
- Stack a second patty on top of that and top it with special sauce, 2 strips of bacon, tomatoes and onions.
- Add your third patty, topped again with special sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.
You’re almost there! - Add your fourth patty, topped with special sauce, 2 more strips of bacon, tomatoes, and onions.
- Finally, add your fifth patty, topped with special sauce, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of special sauce on your top bun and place on top.
You’ve done it! It’s time to dig in and enjoy! A burger this big demands a fork and knife – and probably a couple of good friends to help you finish. So roll up your sleeves and get in there for mouthwatering burger bliss.
