How to Make Picadillo
Making a flavorful picadillo is simple, especially with Omaha Steaks Ultra-Premium Ground Beef. Made from real extra-aged Omaha Steaks and ground by our master butchers, it boasts an 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio to deliver the juiciest, most flavorful ground beef.
1. Picadillo Perfection: Sauté, Simmer, and Savor the Flavor
Preheat a large Dutch oven on medium-high, then add olive oil. Next, place the thawed ground beef and dry spices in the pot. Sauté until the ground beef is browned, about six to eight minutes.
Remove the ground beef with a slotted spoon, reserving the fat. Then, add the onions, red bell pepper, and garlic, cooking for about two minutes. Next, add the tomato paste and sauté for about two minutes before pouring in the chicken stock and bringing it to a boil. Add back in the cooked ground beef, minced olives, and Worcestershire sauce, reduce medium heat, and cook for 15 minutes. Lastly, add the diced potatoes and cook for 20 minutes. The potatoes will become tender, and the picadillo will thicken slightly. Stir in chopped cilantro and season to taste with additional salt and pepper if needed.
2. Time to Eat!
Now that the picadillo is ready, it’s time to serve and eat! Place white rice at the bottom of the bowl, then top it with the picadillo.
