Learning how to bake mahi mahi for use in all your favorite recipes is quick and easy – let us show you!
How to Bake Mahi Mahi
One of the best parts about baking fish is that the oven does all the work. Once your mahi mahi is in the oven, there is no flipping or rotating required!
1. Thaw Mahi Mahi
Each mahi mahi fillet comes to you individually sealed for maximum freshness and convenience. While we recommend thawing them overnight in your refrigerator to maintain their incredible ocean-fresh flavors, quick-thawing in cold water is also acceptable. The thaw in the refrigerator, remove from original packaging, place in resealable bag, and thaw in refrigerator for at least 7 hours. To thaw faster, remove product from original packaging, place in resealable bag, and submerge bag in cold water for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Cook and consume within 2 days.Â
2. Preheat Oven to 400°F
While your mahi mahi fillets are thawing, save some time by preheating your oven to 400°.
3. Prep and Season Mahi Mahi
Once thawed, brush each fillet with melted butter or oil. Mahi mahi is a low-fat seafood option that doesn’t retain moisture as easily as other fish, so a light layer of butter or oil provides the moisture needed to keep your mahi mahi perfectly juicy while cooking. Add even more flavor by seasoning with our Signature Seafood Seasoning or your favorite homemade marinade. Although mahi mahi pairs wonderfully with many seasonings, keep in mind that its coveted mild flavor may be lost with bold or extra flavorful additions.
4. Bake Mahi Mahi
Once your oven is done preheating, place your seasoned fillets on a pan and bake for a short 10-12 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145° Fahrenheit. A truly simple dish, while in the oven, your mahi mahi do not require any flipping or rotating! You’ll know your fillets are completely cooked when the meat of the fish is opaque throughout. Remove from the oven, garnish with a lemon, and enjoy! To learn how to cook all of your favorite seafood, check out our expert seafood cooking chart.
