Introducing the Ultimate Steak and Wine Experience!

Menu
As French author Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin once said, a meal without wine is like a day without sunshine. It was in that spirit that we began to search for a wine partner that could help us ensure our customers enjoyed an unparalleled dining adventure. Omaha Steaks is a family-owned business that’s been devoted to delivering exceptional experiences that bring people together since the day we first opened our doors in 1917. Legacy and quality are the pillars on which we built our nationwide brand, so when it came to finding a wine partner to enhance our customers’ gourmet dining, we knew we needed one who felt the same way. And after scouring the globe, we found them: Laithwaites Wine.

Omaha Steaks Wine: The Perfect Sip to Complement Our World-Famous Sizzle

Omaha Steaks Wine is a collaboration between two iconic families and trailblazers with over 150 years of combined family-owned heritage in the world of food and wine. The expert-curated range features our very own signature Omaha Steaks 1917 wines, including a Red Blend, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Combining the industry strength of two companies with generations of steak and wine knowledge and expertise, it builds an experience you simply can’t get anywhere else.

America’s Original Butcher Pairs Well With the World’s First Wine Delivery Service

“We knew from the moment we met Laithwaites that they were the right partner for us,” shares Omaha Steaks Vice President and Chief Product Officer (and wine lover) Brian Fowler. “Just as we pioneered home food delivery in America in the 1950s, they pioneered home wine delivery in the UK in the 1960s. Just as we are passionate about offering great meat and gourmet foods, they are passionate about bringing great wine to everyone’s table. The partnership is really grounded in our shared history and values.”

That sentiment was echoed by Tom Laithwaite, Cellar Director of Omaha Steaks Wine, who knew this partnership was guaranteed to elevate both brands. “The right glass of wine turns a great meal into something truly special,” shared Laithwaite. “That’s why we wanted to pair Omaha Steaks with Laithwaites to create a food-inspired wine journey… where only the best makes the cut.”

Shared Heritage in Every Glass: The Omaha Steaks Signature 1917 Wine Lineup

The 1917 name stands for more than just the year the Simon Family opened their first butcher shop in Omaha, NE. It’s our promise of perfection, and a guarantee that our signature 1917 wine lineup will wow you from the first sip to the last. Explore our House Red, a silky blend from Portugal; our House White, a classy French Chardonnay; and our luxurious Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma. Our curated selection caters to red wine enthusiasts and adventurous palates alike, and each wine is handcrafted to make the world’s best steak, pork, seafood, and poultry taste even better.

With such an expansive collection of wines to choose from, how did Omaha Steaks determine that these three specific wines were exactly what we were looking for? “The Laithwaites team first narrowed down a broad selection of wines from across the world for the Omaha Steaks team to choose from,” shares Fowler. “We then blind-tasted a number of wines together, enjoying them both on their own and paired with food. Without discussing them as we sampled, we rated and made notes on each wine. After we finished tasting, the results were tabulated and were nearly unanimous across the Omaha Steaks and Laithwaites teams. We had found just the right wines that we felt our customers would love.”

Omaha Steaks 1917 Red Blend

From a historic family estate in Portugal, this wine delivers a blend of native star grapes. It is smooth and silky enough to enjoy on its own, but will also enhance the flavors of gourmet burgers, hearty stews, and all your BBQ favorites. In addition to layers of ripe fruit, careful oak aging adds a smoky edge that pairs well with the flavors of flame-grilled and smoked meats.

Tasting Notes: A full-bodied blend of traditional Portuguese grapes with silky, dark-fruited flavors, smooth tannins, and subtle notes of toasty oak.

Omaha Steaks Food Pairings: A blend made of three grape varieties (Portugal’s famed alicante bouchet and touriga nacional with a dash of syrah), aged in oak to add toasty, smoky notes that pair perfectly with our wonderfully mild Butcher’s Cut Filet Mignon, combining flavors that won’t overpower one another.

Crafted by José Lobo de Vasconcelos: Boasting a 30+-year professional relationship with Laithwaites, José makes this 90-point blockbuster wine at his 17th-century Portugal estate, formerly a falconry for the king and presently renowned for breeding Lusitano dressage horses.

Omaha Steaks 1917 Chardonnay

From the sunny south of France, near the picturesque seaside city of Beziers, this single-estate Chardonnay strikes a perfect balance between freshness and richness and is a wonderful complement to so many foods, including cedar plank salmon, grilled chicken, pork ribs, pasta with buttery or creamy sauces, salads, and soft cheeses.

Tasting Notes: Medium-bodied, bursting with ripe citrus, fresh apple, floral notes, and a hint of vanilla.

Omaha Steaks Food Pairings: This wine strikes a brilliant balance between the ripe-fruited chardonnays of California and the fresh, elegant wines of France’s Burgundy region – with ripe citrus and floral notes plus just a touch of buttery oak. Whether you enjoy this with a lightly grilled Butcher’s Cut Air-Chilled Chicken Breast or with our pan-seared Chilean Sea Bass, it’s the perfect food-friendly white wine.

Crafted by Nicole McPheeters: This critically acclaimed 90-point white features the finest chardonnay grapes from Nicole’s favorite vineyards in France’s Nissan-les-Ensurine village, harvested in the cool evening air to lock in freshness.

Omaha Steaks 1917 Cabernet Sauvignon

Aged for 24 months in fine oak barrels and bottled without a fining agent to retain all its aromas and flavors, this wine features a deep color with flavors of rich berry compote, dark chocolate, and baking spices. It will pair perfectly with ribeye crowns, roasted meats, aged cheeses, and much more.

Tasting Notes: Full-bodied with ripe cherry, boysenberry, vanilla notes, and silky smooth tannins.

Omaha Steaks Food Pairings: The acid and the tannins in this fine red cut like a knife through a beautiful cut of steak, including our Butcher’s Cut Ribeye Filets, cleansing your palate after each bite and sip while also mellowing the wine to create a fuller, more rounded experience in the mouth.

Crafted by William (Bill) Knuttel: A legendary winemaker of both reds and whites in Napa and Sonoma and a former president of the California Cabernet Society, Bill has a long-lasting professional relationship with Laithwaites and crafts wines exclusively for their customers. This Reserve Cabernet – of which only 500 cases were made – was aged in his finest French oak barrels for 24 months to deliver an incomparable experience.
