Who says burgers are just for lunch or dinner? It definitely wasn’t me. Rise and shine (and start grilling!) with me with this delicious, hearty A.M. burger made on the grill. Breakfast will never be the same – a juicy grilled burger, topped with thick-sliced bacon, fried eggs, hash browns, American cheese, and a savory Parmesan Pepper Mayo. Follow the video below and awaken your taste buds!
What’s in a Breakfast Burger?
A breakfast burger begins with a premium beef burger, of course. Use Omaha Steaks premium ground beef with an 80/20 fat ratio for a rich and juicy burger. Make thick, ½ lb. patties and add a dimple in the center of the burger (this will reduce the shrinkage of the patty as it cooks.) Grill the burger to your desired doneness and add a slice of American cheese during the last 30 seconds of cooking.
Then, top your burger with traditional breakfast deliciousness – fried over-easy eggs, cheesy steakhouse hash browns, American cheese, and bacon. But, not just any bacon. We’re talking Colossal Cut Bacon – extra-thick, ½” slices of applewood smoked bacon. I can smell the bacon frying already! Hold this massive breakfast burger together with a toasted sesame seed bun with Parmesan Pepper Mayo.
This A.M. burger is the best part of waking up. I know I’m awake now!
A.M. Burger
Ingredients
Parmesan Mayo
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup freshly shaved Parmesan cheese
- ¼ tsp. black pepper
- Kosher salt
Bacon
- 2 strips Omaha Steaks Colossal Cut Bacon cut in half
Cheesy Hash Browns
- 2 Omaha Steaks Steakhouse Hash Browns
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 slices American cheese
Fried Eggs
- 2 large eggs
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
Cheeseburger
- 1 lb. Omaha Steaks ground beef
- 2 slices American cheese
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Toasted Bun
- 2 sesame seed buns
- 2 tsp. Parmesan Pepper Mayo
Instructions
Parmesan Pepper Mayo
- Add mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper into a small mixing bowl and whisk until well incorporated. Season to taste with salt.
Bacon
- Preheat grill to 350 degrees F using direct heat. Set a 10-inch cast iron pan over the heat and place 4 halves of bacon strips in the pan. Fry about 6 to 7 minutes on both sides until fully cooked to desired doneness, being careful not to burn.
Cheesy Hash Browns
- Thaw hash browns in refrigerator for 2 hours. Preheat grill to 350 degrees F using direct heat. In a 10-inch cast iron pan, add vegetable oil and place on grill.
- Once oil begins to shimmer, pan fry hash browns on both sides until golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side; closing grill lid after flipping each time. Once hash browns are golden brown on both sides, place one slice of American cheese on each hash brown to melt, about 30 seconds.
Fried Eggs
- Preheat grill to 350 degrees F using direct heat. In a 10” cast iron pan, add vegetable oil and oil and place on grill.
- Once oil begins to shimmer, fry egg for 30 to 40 seconds, lightly seasoning salt and pepper on one side, then flip and fry another 30 seconds for runny yolk. For fully cooked egg, cook an additional 15 to 20 seconds on each side.
Cheeseburger
- Preheat grill to 450 degrees F using direct heat. Divide ground beef in half and form two ½ lb. patties, each about ½ inch thick.
- Using your thumb, make a dimple in the center of the patty; this will help the burger shrink less and cook more evenly.
- Season both sides of burger with salt and pepper.
- Place burgers on grill and cook 4 to 5 minutes per side for medium doneness; grill longer, if desired, for further doneness.
- Add one slice of American cheese on top of each burger, close grill lid, and cook for about 30 more seconds to melt cheese. Remove patties from grill to clean plate.
Toasted Bun
- While burgers are grilling, spread ½ t. of mayonnaise on each cut side of the bun. Place cut sides down on the grill grates. Toast about 20 to 30 seconds, or until buns are well toasted, being careful not to burn.
Assembly:
- Spread desired amount of Parmesan mayo on each toasted bun.
- Place cheeseburger on bottom bun and top with 2 bacon slices.
- Top each burger with a hash brown and top bun.
- *Add ketchup and/or mustard to burger, if desired.
