With great pride, Omaha Steaks recently announced the recipients of this year’s scholarship awards. The scholarship program has been in place more than ten years and is designed to provide assistance to employees’ children who plan to pursue post-secondary education in either a college or vocational education setting.

The following students, all members of the “Omaha Steaks Family,” have been selected to receive scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year:

Charlie Peng, son of Dongming Peng and Min Liu of Omaha, Neb.  Charlie, a graduate of Millard North High School in Omaha, Neb. will attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., where his field of study will be Actuarial Science.

Carlos Rivera-Varela, son of Selvin Rivera-Serrano and Yensi Varela of Omaha, Neb.  Carlos, a graduate of Bryan High School in Omaha, Neb., will attend the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Neb., where his field of study will be Structural Engineering.

Selvin Rivera-Varela, son of Selvin Rivera-Serrano and Yensi Varela of Omaha, Neb.  Selvin, a graduate of Bryan High School in Omaha, Neb., will attend the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Neb., where his field of study will be Engineering.

Zachery Borer, son of Michael and Lisa Borer of Morse Bluff, Neb.  Zachery, a graduate of North Bend Central High School in North Bend, Neb., will attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., where his field of study will be Mechanical Engineering.

Hannah Hrbek, daughter of Douglas and Ann Hrbek of West Point, Neb.  Hannah, a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School in West Point, Neb., will attend the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Neb., where her field of study will be Biology.

Pablo Chavez, son of Manuel Chavez Jr. and Lannette Chavez of Omaha, Neb.  Pablo, a graduate of Bellevue West High School in Bellevue, Neb., will attend Doane University in Crete, Neb., where his field of study will be Engineering.

The six scholarship award recipients were selected for their academic accomplishments, leadership, community involvement and participation in school activities. “We sincerely congratulate this year’s scholarship recipients and their families,” said Omaha Steaks President Bruce Simon, “and are proud to have them representing Omaha Steaks.”
