The meat is then stuffed into a natural casing to create the added “snap” that this sausage in known for.

First served at Oktoberfest in Germany, these sausages are packed with flavor and their ample size makes them a go-to choice for all seasons. For grilling, they can be enjoyed al fresco or on a bun topped with caramelized onions, spicy mustard, or tangy sauerkraut. Thaw in refrigerator for 24 hours. Appliances vary, adjust times accordingly.
Grill: Preheat grill to medium high. Grill for 6-8 minutes turning frequently.
Stovetop: Place desired amount of knockwurst in a pan. Cover with water or beer. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. *If desired finish knockwurst on the grill or in a saute pan until golden brown.
