This is a critical step in the process because by removing the bones first, it allows the marinade to soak deeply into the meat. This also ensures the split bird has more surface contact for your grill or skillet, which ultimately speeds up your cooking time.

THAW IN REFRIGERATOR. APPLIANCES VARY, ADJUST COOK TIMES ACCORDINGLY. FOR FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY, FOLLOW THESE COOKING INSTRUCTIONS. COOK THOROUGHLY TO A MINIMUM INTERNAL TEMPERATURE OF 165°F AS INDICATED BY A FOOD THERMOMETER.
GRILL: Preheat grill to medium (350-400°F). Clean and oil grill grates. Remove chicken from packaging and place, skin side down, on the grill grates. Cover and grill for 6-8 minutes or until chicken skin easily pulls away from grill. Flip chicken and grill for another 6-8 minutes. Remove from grill, let rest 5 minutes and serve.
OVEN: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly oil. Remove chicken from packaging place on a baking sheet, skin side up. Place baking sheet in oven on center rack and bake for 18 minutes. Turn broiler to high and broil chicken for 3-5 minutes or until skin starts to crisp. Remove chicken from oven, let rest 5 minutes and serve.
