With the joys of the holiday season come the inevitable inconveniences of winter weather. While Omaha Steaks uses aPerfectly Cold\u2122 container for each shipment of holiday steak gifts<\/a> to make it to your doorstep, occasionally the trucks are delayed, have to be rerouted because of road conditions or get held up as a result of other weather-related issues.<\/p>\n

The drivers make every effort possible to get your shipment to you on time, but sometimes Mother Nature just doesn’t cooperate. In the event that your shipment arrives later than expected, we recommend that you check the contents to ensure that the products are safe for consumption.<\/p>\n

We place enough ice in each Perfectly Cold\u2122 container to make sure the food is good through the end of your scheduled delivery day, which can be as late as 9:00 PM. We typically expect there to be little to no ice left when they arrive, but the food should still be frozen. If your gourmet products do not arrive frozen, please use the following information to discern whether your product is safe, or whether you should contact us with concerns.<\/p>\n

Beef-Only Products:<\/b>\u00a0If they are still cool to the touch, they can be refrozen without issue.<\/p>\n

Poultry\/Seafood and all other Omaha Steaks Products:<\/b>\u00a0These items cannot be refrozen if completely thawed, but are covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee and can be refunded or replaced by calling 1-800-228-9872.<\/p>\n

Refreezing Reminders:<\/h3>\n

  • Meat that is thawed at refrigerated temperatures (36\u00b0F to 40\u00b0F) can be refrozen. Do not refreeze defrosted meat that is held at room temperature for more than two hours. If the vacuum wrap has been removed,\u00a0rewrap in any freezer-safe wrapping to avoid freezer burn.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Meat thawed at refrigerated temperatures can be refrozen within 1-2 days of holding at the refrigerated temperature.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Do not refreeze food that has been frozen and reheated, quick thawed, or microwave thawed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
