We surveyed 2,000 Americans and found that a whopping 65 percent would like an alternative to turkey on the table this year. So what are families serving for Thanksgiving?<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The most popular alternatives to turkey are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omahasteaks.com\/product\/Spiral-Sliced-Ham-1-8-lbs-02578?SRC=RZ0636\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">ham<\/a>, chicken, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omahasteaks.com\/product\/Bone-In-Frenched-Prime-Rib-Roast-00000011394?SRC=RZ0636\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">roast beef<\/a>, but some will also be serving seafood and steak.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fomahasteaks%2Fvideos%2F311692799670439%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Top 5 Alternatives to Turkey on Thanksgiving:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ham 60%<br \/>Chicken 41%<br \/>Roast beef 37%<br \/>Seafood 29%<br \/>Steak 26%<\/p>\n<p>This survey also revealed that nearly half (44 percent) of Thanksgiving hosts will be serving a new main dish year. Shocking, we know!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis survey confirms what we at Omaha Steaks have known for years,\u201d said Omaha Steaks Senior Vice President and Family Owner of Todd Simon. \u201cWhile most Americans have a tradition of serving turkey on Thanksgiving, spiral sliced hams and roasts are also popular main dishes for the holidays and other special occasions. We continue to see increasing popularity in these items every year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We also discovered that on an occasion that expects near perfection, the average Thanksgiving dinner only goes 64 percent as planned. So what usually goes wrong?\u00a0The biggest \u201cThanksgiving fail\u201d is not having all the food cooked on time &#8212; with 41 percent of Americans saying they\u2019ve been left hungry and waiting at dinner.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s nothing much worse on Thanksgiving than screwing up the turkey, but it\u2019s easy to do. In fact, it\u2019s the second most common \u201cfail,\u201d with one in four Americans (26 percent) having dealt with an overcooked turkey in the past. Luckily, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omahasteaks.com\/product\/Whole-Basted-Turkey-1-10-lbs-01244?SRC=RZ0636\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">whole turkeys<\/a> are pre-brined and come with a roasting bag and pop-up time, so your turkey is perfect and juicy every time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not having enough seating rounds out the top three &#8220;Thanksgiving fails&#8221; (26 percent), with completely forgetting the cranberry sauce following close behind (23 percent).
