Omaha Steaks, a long-time advocate for the cultural arts, today announced its support of Portals, a multi-media live performance being presented by The KANEKO, an Omaha, Nebraska-based organization that promotes creativity in the arts, sciences and philosophy, on October 5 and 6, 2011. Portals stars violinist Tim Fain in an 80-minute performance that fuses the music of six American composers with an original film.

Portals combines music with film, dance and the spoken word to explore the ways in which we communicate and find meaning in today's digital age. The show, designed to explore new possibilities within a live performance, offers a technologically fresh approach, where performers and are artists appear onscreen in an online live video, while Mr. Fain performs live onstage.

In addition to the Portals: Special Midwest Premiere Performance on October 5 and the Portals: Live Social Media Meet Up and Party on October 6, The KANEKO is hosting a variety of education and outreach programs with the creative team at both the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Campus and The Kaneko at 1111 Jones Street in Omaha.
